EclipseCares lent a hand at the Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry Wednesday afternoon gathering and sorting food to be distributed to local residents in need. Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry services over 12 zip-codes surrounding the Chicago area. Last year alone, they helped over 16,000 families compromised of about 46,000 individuals. Food insecurity continues to be a huge problem in America. Earlier this month, the issue that is affecting 1 in 4 families with children was given national attention on John Oliver's show "Last Week Tonight." He stated that nearly "40% of food produced in the United States is never eaten, Americans throw away $165 billion worth of food annually and that sum of food is enough to fill up 730 football stadiums." These shocking numbers are part of the reason why Eclipse Telecom loves to give back and help the community in any way possible.
