Kirk Armstrong, Network Design Specialist, has recently celebrated his third year at Eclipse Telecom! We sat down with Kirk to talk about his growth and success in the company. Kirk has provided us with great feedback on his three successful years at Eclipse.
1. Q: What has been your biggest success at Eclipse?
A: Looking back three years ago to the start, I’ve always been a techy kind of guy. Being able to talk up, visualize, and conceptualize what is needed by developing a vision versus sitting there and not understanding the landscape of the industry has been my biggest success. I came into the industry, being able to develop the acumen of the industry. But, being able to talk about the changes in the industry while walking the walk has been my path to success.
2. Q: What part of this job do you personally find most satisfying? Most challenging?
A: The most satisfying part of my job is the collaboration at Eclipse. I have been in more toxic environments, and having collaboration and the willingness to help one another is extremely satisfying. Finding the right solution for the client or the needle in the haystack, the one thing they actually need, and introducing new technology to clients, is what I enjoy most.
The most challenging part of working at Eclipse is the initial learning of working through so many different processes in everything you are doing.
3. Q: What do you like most about working in this industry?
A: Tech is changing so fast, by the time you learn about something in the industry, there could be already an update or a generation 2.0 in development. Telecom is something that was static with no change for so long. Now, it is rapidly changing and evolving.
4. Q: How would you describe the working atmosphere and the people with whom you work? How has this impacted your stay at Eclipse?
A: Eclipse is like a tight family, everyone meshes together so well, it is like a puzzle. Pieces start fitting together as others listen to everyone’s strengths and picks up another person’s weaknesses.
The reason I have stayed at Eclipse for the past three years is the room to grow. Me, not being the perfect person that I am, do not feel the need to be perfect everyday at Eclipse. I can make a mistake and don’t feel like it’s the end of the world. At Eclipse I have the ability to learn from my mistakes and deliver a new perspective making someone turn their head.
5. Q: What has been Eclipse’s biggest improvement over the last three years since you have been working here?
A: Messaging, has been the biggest improvement. Figuring out who we are or what we need to be. We have a pulse on what our clients want and what direction we need to move. Who we are tomorrow won’t be who we are in 5 years. But being fluid has given the company the ability to evolve, stay relevant and remain leaders.
6. Q: What do you like the most about Eclipse?
A: Eclipse Cares. At Eclipse, it is apart of our values to give back to our community. There is something about going mentally blank and not think about anything else besides what is directly in front of you. Volunteering helps bring us all together.
